The Australian Bureau of Statistics conducts surveys that are just for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, covering topics such as health, culture, education and employment. The surveys reach people all over Australia from major cities to very remote communities. The information collected in these surveys is used to inform important decisions about the services and programs that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Gilimbaa worked with ABS on the development of a promotional video for its Intergenerational Health and Mental Health Study (IHMHS), the largest health study undertaken in Australian history. The Gilimbaa team travelled around South-East Queensland to interview and film Indigenous survey ‘champions’ before editing a final 2.5-minute video to be used across a variety of online platforms.
