Gilimbaa worked with The State Library of Queensland to create an agile and captivating look and feel for its campaign for the International Year of Indigenous Languages, having been tasked with developing a creative system to be used throughout all visual communication materials.
To celebrate the complexity of Indigenous language, Gilimbaa created a suite of language pods; each unique and inspired by the shades and melody of language and the diversity of the country, and rich, layered and textured to capture the rusticness of time. The addition of a knowledge stream representing the celebration of diversity of people and culture interacting, building and sharing their language journey.
The resulting artwork adorned numerous communications materials, including a giant billboard outside the State Library building in Brisbane’s cultural precinct.
